You may not be surprised to hear that cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. With players who have become legends and teams that are followed around the globe, this is a sport with a solid fan base. What has made the sport even more popular, and exciting, is the ability to bet on the outcome of matches.

Until recently, fans looking at betting on cricket were restricted. If the season had ended then there were no bets to be placed. The arrival of simulated reality league cricket changed all of that. So, what does SRL cricket has to offer, and is it better than the real thing? Let’s take a look.

What is SRL cricket?

Before we start to look at whether SRL is better than real cricket, let’s take a look at what SRL actually is. As the name suggests, SRL cricket simulates real-life matches and gives fans the opportunity to bet on the outcome. Fans get to see stunning graphics, that represent some of the best players, and get to witness how the match plays out. The outcome is based on a complex algorithm that acts on data gathered from at least 200 previous matches.

SRL vs real cricket – the visuals

Thanks to those that work in game development, we now have truly amazing graphics when we come to play our favourite video games. This has spilt over into SRL where the graphics add to a truly immersive experience. When glancing at a screen, it is easy to believe that the players and the stadiums are all from real life.

That being said, it soon becomes clear that it is not a live game. It takes a while to register, but you will see that SRL is not quite the same as a live televised match. It is, however a very accurate representation.

All year round betting

Cricket, much the same as other sports, has its season. Whether you are watching the latest IPL action or awaiting the next Ashes, you know that you are not going to be able to bet on live cricket for 12 months of the year. This is where SRL has the upper hand.

With SRL, you can forget about the end of a season. It gives you the opportunity to bet on your favourite sport the whole year through. This isn’t betting on re-runs. This is betting on simulated matches that are based on facts, but there is no way of guessing the outcome.

You don’t lose your favourite players

When betting on real cricket, it is common for fans to have their favourite players. At times, fans don’t want to bet on an end result: they want to bet on a players performance. This all goes out of the window when your favourite player is missing due to injury.

With SRL, your favourite player will still be present whether they are injured in real life or not. Their performance is based upon statistics from 100s of previous appearances, so you will still be able to place a bet.

 Bringing it all together

There is no getting away from the fact that the live cricketing experience is amazing. To see your favourite players pit their wits against the opposition is nothing short of awesome. However, SRL offers fans the chance to really learn about the sport. Knowing that algorithms are based on past performance means that studying form can help your chances. The big win for SRL though is that fans can bet whenever they choose to and are not tied to the sporting season.
