The most exciting T20 tournament in the world — the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume next month in the UAE where the remaining matches of the temporarily halted 14th edition will be played.

It can be recalled that IPL 14 had to be suspended in early May due to a deadly second wave of Covid-19 in India. With the high-voltage cricketing action just a few days away, it is a good time for fans to try their luck at some of the leading IPL betting websites.

It has to be said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly has done a great job in working on rescheduling the remaining matches. The Indian cricket board succeeded in reviving IPL 2014, which will see the remainder of the season wrapped up in October.

For the record, the IPL 2021 final is scheduled to be played on October 10.

IPL 14 will recommence at Dubai on 19 September as the Chennai Super Kings locks horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians in what will be match no. 30.

Currently, the IPL 2021 points table is being led by Delhi Capitals, which had collected 12 points from eight matches. The Delhi Capitals had won half a dozen matches, while losing a couple of matches.

Chennai Super Kings are in the second position of the IPL points table 2021, courtesy of five wins from seven matches to collect 10 points. The Royal Challengers Bangalore also have the same number of points as the Chennai Super Kings.

Right at the bottom of the IPL 14 points table is the Sunrisers Hyderabad, which could win in only one of the seven matches it had played. The Kolkata Knight Riders are second last with a couple of wins in seven matches.

When it comes to IPL 14 statistics, Shikhar Dhawan of Delhi Capitals is the orange cap holder with 380 runs in eight innings with three half centuries. After him in the IPL 2021 top run scorers list is KL Rahul with 331 runs in seven innings with four half centuries.

Among the bowlers, Royal Challengers Bangalore medium pacer Harshal Patel holds the purple cap with 17 wickets to his name in seven matches with a best of 5 for 27. South African fast bowler Chris Morris, who is playing for Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals quick bowler Avesh Khan are among the top three wicket takers in IPL 2021 with 14 wickets each.

It can be recalled that the first edition of the Indian Premier League was played in 2008 following India’s win in the inaugural T20 World Cup. While the opening edition of the IPL was won by the Rajasthan Royals led by Australian spin legend Shane Warne, the 2020 edition was won by the Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in the IPL with five title wins. The Chennai Super Kings led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni have won the tournament on three occasions.

The IPL had quickly gone on to become one of the most watched tournaments for cricket fans and the most-sought for players.

With a lot of money involved in the IPL, it has had its shares of controversies such as spot fixing and match fixing among others. However, the pros have only outweighed the cons of the T20 league.

The standards of Indian cricket have gone up over the last few years thanks to the exposure that talented young players are getting by playing alongside some of the biggest overseas stars. India has developed its bench strength because of the tournament and currently is capable of fielding more than two competitive teams.

Apart from helping the BCCI in producing high quality players, the IPL has helped in significantly enhancing the cricketing infrastructure in India. Currently, India has plenty of world class cricket stadia, which is largely driven by the money generated by the IPL.
