A Look Ahead To The England T20 Series With Sri Lanka?

England will be disappointed to have lost the test series to New Zealand 1-0, especially on home soil and in the fashion, it was done, where an injury hit team was easily dispatched by the number one test team in the entire world. However, England’s T20 side will know that they now have a 3-game series coming up in Sri Lanka, and it is there turned to be the best team in the world as they look to dominate the T20 world.

However, like the England test team, the T20 side has also been hampered by injuries and the selectors will be worrying to see if some of their star men are going to be first for the series starting next week. Johnny Bairstow suffered an injury whilst batting for Yorkshire on Wednesday evening but was able to continue batting where he went on to produce at 48-ball century which was rather impressive. However, he was then limping heavily and was unable to continue fielding.

Furthermore, there is also further worry to England’s batting line up as the number one batter in the world Dawid Malan also misses Friday night’s Vitality Blast match through an achillies injury. Although this issue isn’t deemed to be as bad as Bairstow’s, it is still a worry for many England fans as if these two players are out of the series, then the batting line up is starting to look a bit thin. Many of the England selectors have come out and said though that they expect Malan to be fit.

There is some good news for England fans though and Ben Stokes is expected to be back fit after being injured for the whole of the test series and it really showed. Stokes is one of them cricketers that you need to have in your side when he is fit and England will be looking to dispatch Sri Lanka to re-build the confidence and get back to winning ways, then Ben Stokes is certainly the player in which you want in your side to do so. This is a series that we are really looking forward to and one that we believe England will win comfortably.
