While Gurkeerat Singh is a right-handed middle order batsman who can bowl off-spin, Sreenath Aravind is a left-arm medium pacer. Aravind is by no means quick in the air but has his variations to get about his business, particularly in the shorter version. Fast bowler Mohammad Shami has been omitted as he is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained during India Tour of Australia 2014/15.
From the squad that was picked for the Bangladesh Tour ODIs, Ravindra Jadeja and Dhawal Kulkarni have been dropped. Gurkeerat Singh has virtually taken Jadeja’s spot while leg-spinner Amit Mishra has replaced Dhawal Kulkarni.
