Ind vs Eng Nagpur T20 Result : Hosts India won the second T20I at Nagpur by 5 runs to pull victory from the jaws of defeat on Sunday to keep the three match T20 series against England alive.
Defeat was written on the wall for Team India having posted a modest total of 144 on the board.
The unlikely win came from fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah who held his nerve in the final over which had England needing only eight runs to get with enough batting resources left.
However, the first ball of the over saw Joe Root given lbw despite getting an inside edge by Indian Umpire C Shamshuddin. Root was well settled, scoring a run-a-ball 38. Two balls later, having conceding only a run, Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up the stumps of dangerman Jos Buttler (15) leaving England with seven runs from two balls.
Bumrah had no trouble in protecting the remaining runs as Moeen Ali failed to hit the ball out of the ground in the final ball. The 23-year-old death specialist from Gujarat claimed the Man of the Match award for his match-winning figures of 4-0-20-2.
Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra proved his worth by taking three key wickets including that of Ben Stokes who had smashed 38 from 27 to take England close to a series win 2-0. The 37-year-old Ashish Nehra gave away 28 runs off his four overs to play a key role in India’s win.
Earlier, opener Lokesh Rahul scored a superb 71 from 46 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes to give shape to the Indian innings. Manish Pandey chipped in with 30 from 26 balls while the rest of the batsmen failed to get going at a tricky pitch at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha.
For England, Chris Jordan bowled superbly with figures of 4-0-22-3. The fast bowler was unlucky to be denied an lbw of Indian skipper Virat Kohli who had scored 21.
